Green Action Week 2024
Toxics Link added its voice, energy and creativity to the Green Action Week campaign organised from September-November 2024 to showcase sustainable consumption in practice – around the world. Several workshops and discussion sessions were organised in schools and colleges of the National Capital Region.
The activities conducted under the campaign were meticulously planned and focused on four primary areas: raising awareness about the importance of repair culture, equipping participants with practical skills to minimise waste, fostering innovative solutions for a circular economy, and strengthening community engagement in sustainability initiatives.
Workshops at Schools
Numerous interactive sessions focusing on sustainability and repair culture were organised at Bal Bhawan Public School, Mayur Vihar; Bal Bhawan Public School, Swasthya Vihar and CRPF Public School, Dwarka from October 15–18, 2024. The focus was not only in telling the students about the environmental benefits of repair practices but also in inspiring and training them on fixing and reusing old items instead of mindlessly disposing them. It was encouraging to see students showing keen interest in adapting sustainable practices and eco-friendly habits.
Workshop with College students
On October 22, 2024, a workshop was organised at Aravalli College of Engineering and Management, Faridabad where the focus was not only on training the students in repair work but also engaging them in an interactive session on circular economy. While they learnt ways to repair old electronic items, talks by experts, reference to case studies and brainstorming activities, helped the young minds think of innovative ways for waste reduction and sustainable consumption.
Webinar
A webinar organised by Toxics Link on November 6, 2024 brought together environmental experts, policymakers, students and the community to discuss e-waste management and repair culture. The sharing of knowledge, best practices, and strategies to advance sustainability made the session stimulating and appealing for all.
