Centre for Innovation in Science and Social Action (CISSA) is a collective of dedicated professionals drawn from a broad range of disciplines and is a Non Governmental organization based at Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala and registered under the Travancore Cochin Literary, Scientific and Charitable Societies Act, 1955. Over the past few years since its origin at Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala, CISSA has been successful in carving its own niche at national and international arenas through a series of innovative programmes. CISSA undertakes activities in multifarious disciplines like Ayurveda, Environment and sustainable development, Food Security, Sustainable Agriculture, Clean energy alternatives, Traditional knowledge, Science popularization initiatives, Waste Management.

Darjeeling Ladenla Road Prerna (DLR Prerna) is a Darjeeling based NGO working on the issues of environment and equity in Darjeeling Hills. The organization partners with marginal groups and communities in promoting sustainable socio-ecological systems and has been instrumental in community and student campaigns on Solid Waste Management. In 2003 DLR Prerna became the technical advisor to the Eco-watch group, a Municipality and Civil Society group for solid waste management. The organization believes in a world that sees the need to live as one family where the environment is preserved and protected, where conscious efforts are made to remove unjust structures while striving to build a just and humane society.
ENVIRON was founded in 2003 with an effort to address issues of environmental degradation and economic development of North Eastern Region. They are working towards solving the unemployment problem of in this region through the utilization of natural resources. ENVIRON is a group for conservation, management and utilization of nature and natural resources of North Eastern Region which is registered under Societies Registration Act (XXI) of 1860. They are involved in activities like awareness and training programmes on solid waste management, health and humanity, survey and promotion campaigns for biomedical, plastic waste etc. They also offered consultancy services to the ‘Integrated Solid Waste Management Project’ Guwahati, under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) and they publish quarterly newsletter “Ecotone” on wild life and biodiversity conservation in North Eastern Region since 1st October, 2009. Other notable work includes studies on drinking water and human rights etc.
Ecotourism and Conservation Society of Sikkim (ECOSS) is a group of likeminded people accomplishing a mission. Founded in January 2001, it is a registered body and recognized by the Government of Sikkim as an independent, non-political, non-profit, and non- Government Organization. The mission of the organization is to define the concepts of Ecotourism in the context of the state of Sikkim. It believes that ecotourism and conservation cannot exist without each other and is to promote Ecotourism and Conservation for the benefit of people at all levels of Sikkim’s society. It seeks to combine the strengths of rural communities with the experience of national and international groups who work in the field of Eco-tourism.
Green Vigil Foundation is a registered non-profit organization with expertise in environmental domain & vision of a shared sustainable future on the planet through education & mobilization of all stakeholder groups. The Foundations’ work addresses some of the most difficult challenges faced by the planet: from climate change, water sustainability, food security to ecosystem degradation, biodiversity loss & sustainable use of natural resources.

GUIDE Foundation for Development is a not-for-profit Non Government Organization which is promoted by a group of committed development professionals to address the issues around the poverty, health and environment in rural and urban areas in Andhra Pradesh, registered under Societies Registration Act (XXI) of 1860 in the year 1990. The organization is working on issues like e-waste, bio-medical waste, education, women empowerment etc. in Andhra Pradesh. From an early stage, GFFD has kept major thrust on issues related to environment protection and community based disaster preparedness and rehabilitation. GFFD team has a training resource pool and has been providing regular training to the school, colleges and communities to prepare contingency plans in the disaster prone areas. GFFD has also conducted citizen awareness on environmental issues in Krishna district with support from district youth welfare office. The groups has also worked against use of plastics carry bags and promoted the use of jute bags. With support from EEJP – New Delhi, it has trained 125 SHG women on jute bag making and marketing aspects successfully in the district and this effort has created inspiration for many SHG members.

GANGA started operating in 2003. It is a democratic organization committed to upgrade lives of marginalized people of the society. The mission of the organization is to educate, organize and empower rural and urban poor to live a life with dignity and Self-Respect in healthy environment and vision to establish healthy, progressive, just and equitable society in conserved and safe environment. The organization mainly works on the research, capacity building, networking, awareness building and community mobilisation. GANGA works under the thematic area of Empowerment. Its empowerment programme aims to strengthen people’s capacity to participate more actively in the fight against poverty and exclusion. It does this by involving the community directly in the process of assessing local needs and rights, identifying what would be the most appropriate solutions and developing plans which respond to these.
Ganapati Sabata Foundation (GSF) is a non-government, non-political and not for profit organization that is committed to the upliftment of the downtrodden and deprived categories of the society since its inception. Moving on the way forward to be recognized as one of the pioneer NGO in Odisha, GSF is actively involved in numerous welfare activities that are helping people whom society has ignored or forgotten. Health, Environment and Development Consortium (HEDCON) is a technical support and social advocacy organization registered as a non-governmental organization in Jaipur under the Rajasthan Societies Registration Act, 1958. Since 1998, HEDCON has been working in India to influence, sensitize, capacitate, and support grass root initiatives and organizations, with a vision of a just and equitable society. HEDCON and its members work for the collective uprising of men, women and children, regardless of economic situation, caste or religion. HEDCON believes that advocacy for and research about the causes of current poverty problems is an essential part of achieving sustainable development. Institute of Social Research & Development (ISRD), Manipur was set in the year 1992 by a group of eminent social workers and professionals with a view to undertake various activities for the welfare of the society. Indian Agricultural Development Foundation (IADF) is an organization working for the cause of farmers and environmental protection. It closely works with the Department of Agriculture in rainwater harvesting programmes, Integrated Watershed Development Programmes and in promotion of farmers clubs. IADF also cooperate with National Bank for Agricultural Rural Development (NABARD) in implementing farmer specific and environmental protection related programmes. IADF has been functioning proactively to develop a dynamic and sustainable agrarian community by enriching the local environment, human and social capital. The current context provides enormous challenges as well as opportunities to blend creatively the local available natural resources along with the energy, intelligence of the community by culling out the traditional knowledge system to develop and strengthen the livelihood opportunities by undertaking various people participatory programmes. Jeevan Rekha Parishad (JRP) is a voluntary non-governmental organization working in Odisha in the field of health, environment, education and women’s livelihood issues since 1993. It is registered under Society Registration Act (XXI) of 1860. The organization has its own building and infrastructure besides a team of dedicated volunteers and staff. JRP works in one of the poorest states of India covering four districts namely Khurda, Puri and Phulbani. Navjyoti Development Societyis a national level organization that has been working in the area of social development for the last 20 years. NDS started its threshold venture in 1991 with 5 deprived children who were living in the slums of Okhla Industrial Area, New Delhi. At its inception, NDS is committed to work for the uplifting the life of poor and downtrodden through participation and involvement of all the stakeholders who are directly or indirectly responsible for and affected by it. Society for Direct Initiative for Social and Health Action (DISHA) a voluntary organization was formed in early 1995. It was registered on 12.09.1995 under the West Bengal Societies Registration Act 1961. Since inception DISHA has been active on different issues concerning environment, environmental health and human rights. They have focused on municipal waste management, bio-medical waste management, materials policy, industrial pollution, toxicity, coastal environment, biodiversity, and conservation and energy issues. In all these areas DISHA has undertaken documentation, research, policy intervention, campaign and awareness generation, training and publication. DISHA is presently working with Toxics Link as a local partner in a European Commission supported Project Establishing E-waste Channels to enhance Environment Friendly Recycling “WEEE Recycle”.

Sustainable Development Policy Institute :–SDPI was founded in August 1992 on the recommendation of the Pakistan National Conservation Strategy (NCS), also called Pakistan’s Agenda 21. The NCS placed Pakistan’s socio-economic development within the context of a national environmental plan. This highly acclaimed document, approved by the Federal Cabinet in March 1992, outlined the need for an independent non-profit organization to serve as a source of expertise for policy analysis and development, policy intervention, and policy and program advisory services. SDPI is registered under the Societies Registration Act, XXI of 1860. SDIP seeks to promote the implementation of policies, programs, laws and regulations based on sustainable development; strengthen civil society and facilitate civil society-government interaction through collaboration with other organizations and activist networks. The organisation has served as a source of expertise and advisory services for the government, private sector, and non-governmental initiatives supporting the implementation of Pakistan’s environment and development agenda.
