Dr Hema is working as Senior Programme Coordinator in Waste & Sustainability team at Toxics Link. She has more than 15 years of experience in the field of Waste management, River Basin Management, Hazardous waste management, wastewater management, water quality monitoring, Environment management, monitoring and Sustainable development. 

She has completed her Ph.D. from TERI School of Advanced Studies in Hazardous Waste Management. She has completed her Master of Science degree in environmental science from Banaras Hindu University and Bachelors of Applied Sciences in Instrumentation from Delhi University.  She has done her research work in Management of Chemical sludge from textile waste water treatment plants from TERI School of Advanced Studies and Photocatalytic oxidation of textile dyes in Department of Chemical Engineering in BHU. She has published her research works in reputed journals/Chapter in Book reputed journals such as Journal of Hazardous Materials and Springer, Elsevier publishers etc. 

She has worked as Senior Project Scientist in Smart Laboratory on Clean Rivers (SLCR) in Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Banaras Hindu University (BHU) funded  by Namami Gange and Denmark Embassy under India-Denmark Collaboration wherein she has been  involved in development of Holistic plan of small rivers including liquid and solid waste management, overseeing all aspects of the project, facilitate the collaboration with diverse national and international stakeholders and organizations, conducting meetings, providing technical inputs for the ongoing projects including projects on emerging contaminants in water, wastewater and soil within the SLCR framework. She was also engaged in comprehensive report writing to ensure effective project management and communication and maintain the repository of innovative technologies including Nature based solutions for solid waste management, sludge management etc. and field demonstrations. 

She has worked in National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG), handling all technical tasks, implementation, coordination and monitoring of projects related to Industrial Pollution, Sewage treatment Plants, Waste Management including sludge management. Common Effluent Treatment Plants, drains monitoring, Water Quality monitoring of river Ganga (Manual and Real Time), Strengthening of Laboratories of State Pollution Control Boards (SPCBs) undertaken by Central Pollution Control Board and State Pollution Control Boards under Namami Gange Programme. She has been also involved in International Cooperation projects GIZ-Support to Ganga Rejuvenation (SGR) and India-EU Water Partnership (IEWP) Phase II and World Bank Assisted Projects in National Mission for Clean Ganga under Ministry of Jal Shakti.  In SGR project, River Basin Management Plan for Ramganga River is prepared wherein Key water management issues (KWMIs) including point and non-point issues identified including solid waste management for Ramganga river following by program of measures for its scientific management. She has done capstone project in Waste flow mapping from Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI). 

She has been associated with various projects in Environment Sector in various capacities in various reputed organisations and projects under Ministry of Jal Shakti, Ministry of Environment Forests and Climate Change, Central Pollution Control Board, World Bank, GIZ India, India-EU Water Partnership, PTB Germany, Delhi University, TERI, Indraprastha University, IIT (BHU), and Ranbaxy Research Laboratories (Sun Pharma) etc. She also has teaching experience in G.B. Pant Govt. Engineering College and Delhi University. 

Dr. Hema is deeply passionate about environmental sustainability and waste management, and always striving to make a meaningful contribution to the field.
