Abstract: The report examines the persistent problem of lead (Pb) contamination in India, with particular emphasis on drinking water, environmental pathways and associated health impacts. Lead is a toxic, non-essential metal with no known safe level of human exposure. Its persistence in the environment and accumulation in the human body make even long-term, low-level exposure a significant public health concern. Children, pregnant women and other vulnerable populations are particularly at risk.
