Nonylphenol – An Endocrine Disrupting Chemical

Title: Nonylphenol – An Endocrine Disrupting Chemical
Publication Type: Research Reports
Year of Publication: 2024
Abstract: Nonylphenol (NP) and Nonylphenol Ethoxylates (NPEs) are used globally despite being known as endocrine disrupting chemicals. It’s a high production volume chemical in India, which is widely used in different industrial sectors. Considering the concerns about environmental contamination and health impacts associated with these chemicals, some countries and regions have started to shift to safer substitutes. But NP and NPEs still continue to be used in Global South. This Toxics Link study done in collaboration with Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) found NP and NPEs being used across all sectors (textiles, detergents, metal working fluids, paints, agrochemicals, food packaging material, and construction chemicals) in India.
