Abstract: This project report documents Toxics Link’s initiative in collaboration with the Department of Environment, Government of NCT of Delhi, aimed at raising awareness about mercury hazards in schools across Delhi. Mercury, a pervasive yet hazardous element, poses risks to human health and the environment. The project’s focus is on educating school children and teachers, fostering a sense of responsibility toward the safe management of mercury, and preventing its adverse effects. Through a comprehensive awareness program, including lectures, storytelling, presentations, film screenings, and interactive sessions, the project addresses the lack of understanding and knowledge about the dangers of mercury. The ultimate goal is to sensitize and empower students to become catalysts for positive change in their homes and communities. This report outlines the background, objectives, methodologies, and outcomes of the School-Based Awareness on Mercury Hazards intervention, emphasizing the critical role of education in promoting environmental consciousness and responsible behavior.
