Abstract:This report assesses lead contamination in soil around authorised (formal) and unauthorised (informal) recycling units across Delhi NCR, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh, revealing high levels of lead in soil and raising serious concerns for public health and environmental safety. 

It also highlights major gaps in enforcing India’s Battery Waste Management Rules, 2022 and the Extended Producer Responsibility framework.
