Recycled Plastic Toys (Branded): How Safe?

Title: Recycled Plastic Toys (Branded): How Safe?
Publication Type: Research Reports
Year of Publication: 2025
Abstract:The toy industry is a major consumer of plastics, with a growing shift towards use of recycled materials. While this shift is laudable from the perspective of environmental sustainability, it raises concerns about the safety and quality of toys. This Toxics Link report, Recycled Plastic Toys (Branded): How Safe?”, is based on lab analysis of recycled plastic toys from both international and Indian brands.

The findings show that while many brands are actively working to reduce toxic content, the detection of hazardous chemicals in some toys highlights the urgent need for brands to exercise greater caution and strictly adhere to regulatory measures.
