KERALA WARNINGS CRISIS AND HAZARD MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
1178. SHRI K SUDHAKARAN:

Will the Minister of HOME AFFAIRS be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government is aware of the Kerala Warnings Crisis and Hazard Management System developed by the Kerala State Disaster Management Authority;
(b) whether the Government has provided any funding for the project; and
(c) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HOME AFFAIRS (SHRI NITYANAND RAI)
(a) to (c): The Central Government has implemented National Cyclone Risk Mitigation Project in two Phases. In Phase-I the State of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha were covered. In Phase-II the project was implemented in Six states viz. Goa, Gujarat, Kerala, Karnataka Maharashtra and West Bengal. The project has following four
components:-
I. Component A: Early Warning Dissemination System (EWDS)
II. Component B: Cyclone Risk Mitigation Infrastructure (CRMI) -2- L.S.US.Q.NO. 1178 FOR 11.02.2025
iii. Component C: Technical Assistance and Capacity Building Training.
IV. Component D: Implementation Support Under component A, the State Government of Kerala has developed an EWDS project named KAWACHAM. An amount of Rs.65.38 crore was released to the State of Kerala for its EWDS project under NCRMP Phase-II.
