Food Safety

Toxics Link has been engaged on the issue of food safety for over a decade. Since then the organisation has been continuously raising issues related to food safety in the public domain and published its first report on the food safety in 1998.Later the organization carried an extensive study on the contamination of heavy metals in the vegetables grown in and around Yamuna. The study was much acclaimed at the policy level and was helpful in bringing standards on heavy metals in food items. The organization has also been engaged in various legal interventions on the issue and the matter is pending with the Supreme Court of India.

Toxics Link interventions on the food safety includes research, creating information materials for awareness, capacity building workshop and policy engagement like Food Safety Act 2006.
