Towards Zero Waste: Circular Economy (CE) in Waste Management

Toxics Link organised a full-day workshop on “Towards Zero Waste: Circular Economy (CE) in Waste Management” to bring together various stakeholders to discuss the components of circular economy, their significance, and how they can be integrated into businesses, industries, and societies. The workshop was held on 21 March 2023 at India Habitat Centre (IHC), New Delhi.

The workshop included sessions chaired by circular economy experts, with speakers who discussed various aspects of circular economy and waste management. The sessions covered topics such as the principles of circular economy, sustainable design, government initiatives, and the role of circular economy in environmental sustainability. The discussions revolved around the importance of resource optimization, behaviour change, and policy implementation for effective waste management.

The workshop emphasized the need to shift towards a circular economy, where waste is seen as a resource and products are designed with sustainability in mind. It called for collaboration between different stakeholders, including government bodies, industries, and the public, to implement strategies that promote waste minimization, recycling, and the reuse of materials.
