Be a Green Champion

Toxics Link conducted ‘Be a Green Champion’ school programme in 300 schools across India covering six states namely, Delhi, Rajasthan, Kerela, Sikkim, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. The campaign covered students and teachers. Children were the focus of the campaign because they are believed to be “agents of change” with the power to influence parents and promote awareness among neighbors.

The module of the school programme was very creative and fun filled. It included a story based presentation on E-waste, few group based activities for student, placement of e-waste bin and collection of e-waste. Winners were provided with certificates and badge to courage them to participate in such programs in future.

A mix of public and private schools were targeted in each state. The overall experience of the program was excellent. At the completion of the project, it was felt that students of public schools were more interested in such campaigns due to lack of opportunities for the students. The need of the hour is to have such programs on regular time intervals for a greater impact on the society.
