Abstract:This report provides a preliminary understanding of the major chemicals of concern used in the textile industry, and their health and environmental impacts. This study highlights the existing global regulations governing these chemicals. The report further identifies the need to manage chemicals for an improved public health and environmental protection in the textile sector. With this study, we intend to initiate a discussion on reducing the net chemical consumption in the textile sector, and also reducing the net discharge to the environment.
