| CLIMATE CHANGE & ENERGY EFFIENCY
Director: Davis Guggenheim A longtime advocate for the environment, Gore presents a wide array of facts and information in a thoughtful and compelling way. An Inconvenient Truth is not a story of despair but rather a rallying cry to protect the one earth we all share. "It is now clear that we face a deepening global climate crisis that requires us to act boldly, quickly, and wisely," said Gore. Director: Nitin Das The film is a magical tale about a young boy who finds the solution to Global Warming from a monk in the mountains. The main intention of this film is to spread the message of how fast Global warming is impacting fragile ecosystems. Instead of choosing to spread the message in the form of a documentary, which has limited audience, we chose to make a fairy tale. To present the problem and a possible solution in the form of a fable which would appeal to people across age groups and countries. Director: Naazish Husaini and Atul Kumar The story of Kamla, India’s first barefoot woman solar engineer. The film explores how barefoot solar engineers are proving to be catalysts for a revolutionary change in remote areas of Rajasthan bringing light to the life of several villages. Director: Inder Khaturia When even unconventional technologies fail to empower the high altitude viallges that remain in the dark during the long Himalayan winter, a simple but high reaching innovation cracked the puzzle of freaky weather conditions to harness both solar and wind powers for a round – the – clock solution. “In Their Elements”, records how the solar – wind hybrid system is bringing about happy changes in two remote mountain villages of Lahul – Spiti and how it can help change lives all along the higher Himalayas. Director: Praveen Singh The film explores the yet untapped Geothermal Energy resources of the country, their potential and the need to harness this clean energy source to meet its power needs without adding on to carbon dioxide emissions. The film is based around the case study of Leh, which receives diesel – generated power, but has a Geothermal Energy source nearby that can be tapped to meet not only its power needs but also that of the entire state. The film places the Geothermal Energy in global context by showcasing the success of Iceland in utilizing this energy source. Director: Andrew Stanton Wall-E (short for Waste Allocation Lift Loader, Earth-Class) is the only one of his kind of robot left on earth after a botched attempt at trying to clean the earth that has been overrun with garbage. He developed a personality over 700 years, after humanity had deserted the planet for a "five-year" cruise in which they expected the multitude of Wall-Es to clean and restore the planet to habitable conditions. Wall-E is curious and lonely, repeatedly watching a "Hello, Dolly!" tape and collecting miscellaneous junk, which he keeps meticulously organized. |
