Akshay is working as a Senior Programme Officer in the Chemicals and Health team. He works on policy issues surrounding Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals (EDCs) and Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs). He is currently researching the use of Highly Hazardous Pesticides in India.

After completing an Integrated Master’s degree in Physics from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Roorkee, Akshay took time to prepare for the civil service examinations. This gave him a solid foundation in law and policy, along with various social and environmental issues. Akshay recognizes that poor and marginalized communities are the most affected by environmental degradation and must play a central role in mitigation and restoration efforts. He enjoys fieldwork and wishes to lead ethnographic studies on how communities deal with chemical pollution and environmental degradation

Akshay is a keen reader, a skilled writer, and an occasional musician. He is a history enthusiast and enjoys going on heritage walks around Delhi.
