Film Festival 2006
This is the 2nd edition of our bi-annual film festival “Quotes from the Earth” held since 2004. "Quotes from the Earth" has attracted an overwhelming audience as well as films and film makers from around the globe. Starting in 2004, its prominence has grown since its recent inception.
The Film Festival brings together a multitude of voices and views on environment from across the globe. The notion of absolute equality on Earth, especially concerning living conditions, is the central theme of this festival. From the rare cloud forests of Latin America to the impact of global warming on world's largest mangrove forests of Sundarbans in the Bay of Bengal, to organic farming in South Africa and the impact of genetically modified cotton in Andhra Pradesh our 23 documentaries cover plethora of topics, which are categorized under these themes:

- * Survival
The three-day film festival on environment is organised by Toxics Link in association with the India International Centre and supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, India and the Embassy of Switzerland, New Delhi. Content for the festival was also contributed by Magic Lantern Foundation and Goethe Institute, New Delhi.
The films deal with contemporary and ongoing important issues such as human - animal conflicts, threats to lakes of Kashmir & Manipur, river contamination, impact of mining and the struggle to preserve tropical forests. “Quotes from the Earth" has also been traveling to various cities such as, Kolkata, Ahmadabad, Hubli over the years. The festival goes beyond only viewing films. A panel discussion with eminent academicians, activists, media persons and filmmakers is followed by the screeni ng of the films on the current debates. Since its inception the focus and aim of the film festival has been of awareness creation, and to create an informed discussion on the issues. It is strictly a non-commercial venture.
