Piyush is working as Sr. Programme Coordinator ( chemical and health program).
Piyush has done M.Sc in Botany with specialization in Environmental Toxicology from Berhampur University,Odisha. After completing his post graduation, he was associated with some grass root organizations on biodiversity issues in tribal districts of Odisha. Latter he moved to Delhi to pursue his LLB from Campus Law Center, Faculty of Law. After a brief stint in a corporate law firm, he moved to development sector and worked with Gene Campaign for three years. During his tenure at Gene campaign he was involved on various policy issues concerning intellectual property issues and Genetically Modified (GM) technology.
He joined Toxics Link in the year 2006. He was coordinating the Environmental Equity and Justice Partnership ( EEJP ) and International PoPs Elimination Network (IPEN) South Asia program. He has authored may research reports on the issues of chemicals safety primarily on POPs, heavy metals and Endocrine Disruptive chemicals ( EDCs). , concerning to India and South Asia. He has represented various national level including inter ministerial meetings and international conventions on the issues of chemical safety and waste. He has expertise in Stockholm Convention on POPs., Basel Convention, Rotterdam Convention and Minamata Convention on Mercury..
He is now looking after the chemicals and health program of Toxics Link focusing on the research and policy aspects of the chemical management in the context of health..
Piyush is recipient of prestigious International Visitors Leadership Program (IVLP) of US Govt, "Department of State"in 2011.
